Android 10 removed programmatic Wi-Fi toggling for ordinary apps, so no permission grant brings it back. This guide explains the platform change, then covers the three routes that still work — the MacroDroid Helper, a UI or settings-panel workaround, and redesigning the macro around connection state.
Your macro is not broken — Doze, App Standby, and your OEM’s battery killer each delayed it in a different way. This guide separates the three layers, applies the exact exemption for Pixel, One UI, MIUI, and ColorOS, and verifies the result with a test the phone cannot pass by luck.
A force shutdown mid-save can truncate MacroDroid’s data and cost you macros — if you clear data or reinstall too soon. This recovery guide preserves what still exists, restores from the automatic backup and your exports in the right order, and rebuilds only the macros that are genuinely gone.
A version mismatch means MacroDroid and its helper are no longer a matched pair. This guide covers the safe reinstall through official channels only, why modded helper APKs and disabling Play Protect are never the answer, re-granting the helper, and exempting it from battery killing separately.
A MacroDroid system setting action fails with a permission denial because System, Secure, and Global settings each need a different grant. This guide works through the log, the modify-settings toggle, the ADB grant, and custom ROM privacy layers — then verifies the write actually happened.
Auto-reply SMS that works on a single-SIM phone and fails on a dual-SIM phone is almost always a SIM selection problem, not a MacroDroid bug. This guide starts from the System Log error and a one-SIM-at-a-time send test, then pins the default message SIM on Pixel, One UI, MIUI/HyperOS, and ColorOS, sets the SIM explicitly in the macro, and verifies delivery in both directions on both SIMs.
A hot phone with MacroDroid high in the battery list means one macro is doing far more work than designed. This diagnostic guide identifies the four loop shapes — self-retriggering macros, macro pairs chasing each other, flapping triggers, and actions that never end — then fixes each with re-entry guards, cooldowns, and trigger de-bouncing, verified by log counts rather than guesswork.
Cell tower triggers that only update when a maps app is open are starved of data, not broken. Modern Android gates cell identity behind precise background location permission and, on many builds, the system Location toggle. This guide explains the real mechanism, works through the permission and OEM battery fixes, and shows how to prove updates flow with no location app running.
When MacroDroid suddenly cannot see notifications, the access toggle, Android’s unused-app permission reset, and OEM battery managers are the usual suspects — in that order. This guide shows how to tell a dead listener from hidden notification content, re-grant access on Pixel, One UI, MIUI/HyperOS, and ColorOS, and stop the revocation coming back.
A MacroDroid macro that taps fine while unlocked but does nothing at the lock screen is hitting deliberate Android keyguard security. This diagnostic guide separates a blocked tap from a dead trigger, works the cause tree in order, and shows the per-brand accessibility checks, the wake-and-wait fix, and the lock screen redesign that actually holds up.
